Shared SSL IP
What's a shared SSL IP? How one can install an SSL certificate on this kind of an IP?
Secure Sockets Layer, or SSL, is a protocol used to encode the data exchanged between a server and its users. The practical application of using an SSL is to secure the information which site visitors submit on your website - a login page, a payment page if you run an Internet store, and so forth. Any info they input in any box on the site will be submitted safely to the server, so their login or payment details will be protected from being accessed by unauthorized individuals. Normally, an SSL certificate requires a dedicated IP address to be installed, which means the overall cost for your online presence shall be bigger. While this might not be a problem for a larger business, it might matter for a non-profit organization or a small online store which does not generate big profits if additional money should be spent. That's the reason why we've taken advantage of an extension called Server Name Indication (SNI) and we've made it possible to use a shared server IP address to install an SSL certificate.

Shared SSL IP in Cloud Website Hosting
A shared IP can be used for any SSL certificate, irrespective if you purchase it from us or from some other seller and regardless of the
cloud website hosting package you have on our end. If you obtain the SSL through us, you'll find this option on the certificate order page in your hosting Control Panel where you could also take full advantage of the 1-click automatic configuration option that we offer. If the latter is chosen within the SSL order wizard, our system will install and set up everything for you using the specially configured server shared IP address, therefore once you obtain and approve the SSL, there won't be anything else to do on your end. You could save the funds that you will otherwise need to pay for a dedicated IP and the SSL will function in the same exact way, so any information which the website visitors submit will be encoded. The one difference is that if you input the shared IP address instead of your
domain name within a browser, the website shall not display.

Shared SSL IP in Semi-dedicated Hosting
The shared IP address option is available with all
Linux semi-dedicated hosting and the setup takes merely two mouse clicks within the hosting Control Panel no matter if you buy an SSL through our business or through a third-party supplier. There won't be any difference in terms of how the certificate works or encrypts the information which your website visitors submit, so your website will be secure without having to spend the additional cash for a dedicated IP address. The one thing that'll be different is that https://the-shared-IP shall not open your Internet site, unlike https://the-dedicated-IP, but it's extremely unlikely that anyone shall ever try to access your site in this way as opposed to keying in your domain name. We also offer an auto-configuration option for the SSLs ordered via our company and if you select it and you decide to use a shared IP as opposed to a dedicated one, our system will set everything up as soon as the SSL is approved and issued without the need for any action on your end.
