Varnish
Learn precisely what Varnish is. Discover much more about web accelerators and their goal.
Varnish is a web app accelerator tool, which has been gaining a lot in popularity lately, as it can increase the speed of any site, sometimes even by one hundred percent, depending on the content. This tool is sometimes called a caching HTTP reverse proxy as well and is used to reduce the overall load on the server and to improve the browsing speed for the site visitors. Anytime a visitor accesses a page on a specific site, the browser request is taken care of by the web server and the requested data is served as a reply. If the Varnish accelerator is activated, it caches the pages that the site visitor browses and in case any of them is accessed again, it is delivered by Varnish and not by the server directly. The improvement in the performance comes from the fact that the accelerator processes the web requests significantly quicker than any web server, which leads to much faster browsing speeds for the visitors. In case any data is updated meanwhile, the cached web pages will also be ‘refreshed’ the next time someone tries to open them.

Varnish in Cloud Website Hosting
You can unlock Varnish’s full potential and accelerate your sites irrespective of the
cloud website hosting plan that you have selected and you can enable and configure the content caching platform with several clicks of the mouse via the simple-to-work-with GUI offered by our next-gen Hepsia hosting Control Panel. In the meantime, you will be able to choose two separate things – how many sites will employ Varnish, in other words – the number of instances, and how much information will be cached, in other words – the amount of system memory. The latter is offered in increments of 32 MB and is not tied to the number of instances, so you can use more instances and less memory and vice versa. If you have lots of content on a particular site and you win lots of website visitors, more memory will give you better results. You may also consider using a dedicated IP for the websites that will use the Varnish caching platform. The Hepsia Control Panel will provide you with simple one-click buttons for disabling or restarting any instance, for deleting the cache for each Internet site and for viewing comprehensive logs.

Varnish in Semi-dedicated Hosting
Varnish is a feature, which is included by default with all
Linux semi-dedicated hosting offered by us and you can use it for workload balancing purposes. It’s available in your Hepsia Control Panel. The Varnish platform comes with 64 megabytes of system memory for cached data storing purposes and you can employ it with any Internet site that you host in the account. In case you’re in need of more than that, you can increase the system memory allowance. The memory itself is available in increments of 32 MB through the Upgrades section of the Control Panel. The same Upgrades section will enable you to create more instances too, in case you would like to use the Varnish platform with more sites. The two upgrades can be ordered separately – you can cache the content of a single popular website or run several different Internet sites with the default memory quota. You can get the most out of the Varnish platform in case you use a dedicated IP and you can get one with your semi-dedicated plan as well. Hepsia will give you full control over the caching platform and, with no more than a click, you will be able to clear the cached files, to see a system log file or to reboot an instance.

Varnish in VPS
You can use Varnish with any of our
virtual private server plans at no additional charge, since the platform is pre-installed and is offered by default. The one and only precondition is that the virtual server must be ordered with the Hepsia Control Panel, through which you’ll be able to activate Varnish for any of your websites with only a few clicks. Each VPS package includes a different amount of system memory for caching purposes, but you’ll have minimum several hundred megabytes, which is enough even for multiple regularly visited sites. Soon after you activate the Varnish platform, it’ll start caching the content that your visitors open, so you will notice the tremendously faster page load times and the lowered load on the VPS very soon. Varnish will allow you to use a less high-priced Virtual Private Server, as you won’t need that many resources to ensure the uninterrupted operation of your Internet sites even if you manage resource-demanding Internet sites with plenty of visitors. Optimal results are achieved if the Internet sites that use Varnish also use a dedicated IP address.

Varnish in Dedicated Hosting
If you order a
dedicated server with the Hepsia Control Panel, you will acquire the Varnish content caching platform at no additional fee and you will exert full control over it via a truly time and effort saving interface – you’ll be able to start, to remove or to restart an instance, to browse a detailed system log, to delete the cached files associated with any site and much more. The Varnish caching platform will have several GB of memory at its disposal, so even if you’ve got traffic-consuming Internet sites with an enormous number of visitors, you will notice the significantly faster web page loading times and the lowered load. This will become a fact soon after you start using the Varnish platform, since it will require a certain amount of time to cache the site content that visitors request. You can get the most out of the platform’s potential in case the Internet sites that are using it also use a dedicated IP address, but due to the fact that your dedicated server includes a couple of IP addresses by default, you will not have to pay anything on top of your monthly fee for the machine itself.
